Mindfulness for Life: eight-week course, Monday evenings

January 27, 2025 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm GMT

£150 – £250

The Mindfulness for Life programme has evolved from Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. The programme was developed to offer mindfulness practices and cognitive-behavioural techniques to enable everybody to improve their wellbeing.

Overview
The programme guides participants in how to apply the learning in everyday life to manage what is painful and difficult and cultivate qualities such as compassion. It supports people to work with challenges, including recurring patterns of thought and behaviour that create suffering. It also supports our capacity to savour life and to flourish. Mindfulness for Life is an in-depth programme intended to cultivate lasting and sustainable change.

The format:
– One-and-a-half-hour orientation session (Monday 27 January 17:00 to 18:30)
– Eight weekly two-hour classes including mindfulness practices, discussion and exercises.
– Daily meditation home practice of between 20 to 40 minutes.

When?
Monday evenings 17.00 to 19.00 UK time, starting with the orientation 27 January 2025, then from 10 February 2025 to 31 March 2025 (no session on 3 February).

Bio

We aim to improve the wellbeing and mental health of all people who can benefit from mindfulness. We do this by running mindfulness and compassion programmes, training teachers, and conducting research. The Sussex Mindfulness Centre is part of the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. We are the only mindfulness and Mindful Self-Compassion teacher training and research centre embedded in the NHS. We bring together teachers, teacher trainers and researchers of mindfulness-based approaches. This includes a partnership of Trust staff, experienced researchers at the University of Sussex, and experienced teachers and trainers in the local community. We have good links with local teachers, as well as with trainers and researchers in other mindfulness centres and universities in the UK.
